Vacaciones con mi esposo

(Post in english below)

Me encanto! En serio, un spot obligado!

Me encanta NY!

Ever since we had our baby we haven’t been able to travel just the two of us, actually we haven’t been able to be by ourselves for a whole day, and we needed it! We needed to be boyfriend and girlfriend again for a few days! So, for a while we’ve been talking about traveling together (just the two of us), but we always dismissed the idea because we couldn’t stand to leave our baby alone… But in the end I was the one to decide that we needed this time, we deserved it! After looking at several options, we decided to go to New York because we’ve been there before, so we didn’t have to worry about visiting typical tourist spots, but in relaxing and doing plans for adults, like watching Broadway’s shows, having dinner and walking around. Also, we couldn’t stand the guilt of going to a place where our toddler would be happy (like the beach).
The trip was great, although it was a little bit too cold for my taste, and I got this terrible backache that joins me in every trip I take, no matter which shoes I choose. Still, we did so many things, and the most important thing is that we had so much fun and connected as a couple.
I had a schedule, which I never do, but we couldn’t follow it because it was so cold, that doing a picnic at Central Park was no option! So we went to some new places, ate incredible food and rested. A friend of mine gave me a list of restaurants, from which we choose:
1. For breakfast: Balthazar in Soho, great place! The homemade doughnuts are amazing! It was a rainy day, so the cozy environment was perfect, they say that the brunch is really good, but we went to have regular breakfast during a weekday and it was really good. We did a reservation, which was convenient because even though there was no one waiting, most of the tables were full.
2. For dinner: Spice Market at Meatpacking District, loved it! The place is super trendy, it was full so reserving a table is highly recommended, the environment, service and food was great. We had a lot of fun and ate perfectly!
3. For lunch or dinner: Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien. First, let me explain to you about this place because I didn’t know how it was until we went there, we went to watch a show, and after it we were planning to have dinner there. It’s like an underground burger place, don’t be fooled that just because it is at a hotel it will be fancy, it’s not, at all. It’s a super simple, good, but specially a total experience burger joint.
4. For lunch or dinner (or anytime actually): Eataly Market & Restaurants, it’s a total experience, a must in NY! I wanted to buy it all! All! It’s a little italian market with food, ingredients, wine, books, everything! Inside you can find a coffee place, restaurants, bread, meat, cheeses, etc. I could’ve spent my time in there every day. We had a really good pizza and then we bought some foccaccias for dinner at the hotel, which were wow! In addition, we had a lemon beverage which was super good! I loved it! It really is a must!
5. For the cravings: Magnolia Bakery, I was not planning to go because the last time we did we had to do a huge line, but in the end I had to! On the last day we wanted to have something fast, not a big breakfast but something fast and yummy, so we had to go to Magnolia Bakery. There was no line, i had a cupcake and a lemon bar… I went a little bit crazy! But I was so happy!
I just love NY!

Guilty Pleasures: Postres Griegos

Enjoy!

I’ve been away for a while because I’ve been too tired. My baby just had a sleep regression, he’s waking up every three hours again, so it was hard to focus on the blog, since all I want to do is to get some sleep. It’s getting better (he’s still waking up every three hours) but I have someone that’s helping me a couple of nights a week.
Anyway, I’ve been wanting to share a piece on a place I absolutely love in Panama, the enviroment is amazing, but the food, ufff, the food is great, specially the desserts. It’s called Athanasiou, it’s a greek pastry franchise where you can eat, have a nice cup of cofee, a gelato, buy chocolates, bread, frozen food, and some other special products of the brand. Now that I’m in my maternity leave, I’ve been visiting a little too much, although I cannot eat most of the food due to my dairy free diet. As always, I indulge myself with a little sin once in a while, so we went there with my husband and my baby boy to have lunch on a Saturday and I took a couple of pictures for you to see the place, isn’t it great? It’s like being in a marketplace.
What I think you have to try? The baklava!!! Definitely, I always eat at least two, just look at them, don’t you want to eat the whole table? You should also try the chocolates, I would totally recommend you to try a little bit of everything, since so far, I’ve tried a lot of things like the quiche, lemon pie, pizza, bread, and everything has been delicious! No exceptions.
It is not cheap, but it isn’t that expensive either, let’s just say it’s worth it. Take a look at the pictures and enjoy!

Guilty pleasures: Una Cupcake Boutique

Who doesn’t love cupcakes? Last Friday I was forced to have lunch in a place I really like in Panama. Why forced? Because me and my baby were at the store right next to it when it started to rain, we were trapped in the middle of a storm. I never say no to a cupcake (never!) but I’m on a strict diet by my baby’s gastroenterologist, so I wasn’t supposed to eat there or at least not have a cupcake for dessert. Guilty as charged, I did, I couldn’t resist.
I think most women in Panama have been there, it’s a cupcake boutique, and the cupcakes are AMAZING! It’s called Vanille, and if you are visiting Panama you should go and try the cupcakes, trust me, you won’t regret it (although your diet probably will). I had lunch, a roast beef sandwich with caramelized onions, which is a little too overprized since it’s tasty, but you could find same or better sandwiches somewere else. Still, I was there and couldn’t stop thinking of the dessert I was about to have… yummmm! I ordered a carrot cupcake (my favorite), but there are so many flavors to choose from (I’ve tasted most of them) and in my opinion, all if them are delicious. I’ve been in Vanille for breakfast too, and totally recommend it, food is great, and I love to start my day eating in a place like that, it’s a must to visit it for breakfast if you ask me. If you do so make sure to order abacachi juice, it’s one of the cravings I get from that place, visit their website and you can see the menu.
Another thing I love about the boutique is the look & feel, you feel like in a dreamy dollhouse, great location to hangout with your girl friends. Take a look at some pictures I took, don’t you wish you were there having a cup of tea and a cupcake rigt now?
